Education Influencers worth watching

Zeina Chalich
Leader of Learning Technologies, Santa Sabina College

Zeina is a learning experience designer and international speaker. In her role as Leader of Learning Technologies, Zeina leads disruptive change in digital pedagogy and personalised learning, creatively integrating emerging technology and design thinking to transform learning experiences in partnership with industry experts.

Zeina was awarded the CEC Br John Taylor Fellow Research Prize for her work in nurturing creative confidence through STEAM in a Makerspace. She also won a New Voice in Leadership Scholarship from ACEL and the ACU Young Alumni of the Year award for leading sustainable change in Digital Technologies through innovative curriculum and coaching programs.

Zeina is passionate about leadership, learning innovation and Women Education, often speaking about ways to inspire the next generation of creative, entrepreneurial and digital women. Zeina is a co-founder of #aussieED – Australia’s largest educational professional learning network on Twitter and a National Lead for WomenED Australia.

Dan Martinez
CEO of The Fuse Cup

Dan Martinez is an Apple Distinguished Educator, Microsoft Innovative Educator and has close to 20 year’s experience leading innovation and learning in large scale schools across all sectors, both here in Australia and internationally.

Along with education, his other passion is gaming and esports. In fact, the very first thing Dan saved up to buy was an Atari 2600 and raised funds through his car washing business at age 8. Later, his first part time job was working in a video game store. You could say that it’s been a life-long love affair.

It comes as no surprise then that Dan has combined his vast educational experience with his love of gaming and is now the Chief Operating Officer of The FUSE Cup, Australia’s only national esports competition for young gamers that focuses on developing positive gaming habits and digital wellbeing.

Ivan Davies
Community and Social Play | Riot Games | League of Legends

Ivan Davies is the co-author and founder of the ‘Learn With League;’ an initiative designed and developed by Education experts, Ivan Davies and Dr Kimberly Voll.  Ivan has a background in sports psychology, specialising in group cohesion and collective efficacy. In 2005, he became a Physical Education teacher in the UK, where he delivered lessons for students aged 11–18 years in a co-educational specialist sports college.

During this period, he worked with the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) to carry out two high school investigations on Assessment for Learning. Outside of teaching, Ivan has worked with professional athletes across multiple sports, including Esports.

Ivan’s lifelong passion for community has seen him work on significant youth initiatives. He leads Community and Social Play in the Riot Games Sydney office, and continuously discovers and refines ways to support the League of Legends community in Oceania. When he’s not organising community events, Ivan enjoys spending time with his whānau.
